DAN FONTANELLI

gardens strewn with faded flowers

Arrangements are made from found materials, discarded flowers, leaves from a roadside bush and other simple sources. They are at varying stages in their life span. Photographing the arrangements in sections, reassembling the negatives, printing and toning in the darkroom, the joins, cuts, sellotape marks cause re consideration. The ephemeral beauty of nature reflecting a constant state of change encourages an awareness of 'becoming' not 'being.'

"Branches about to blossom or gardens strewn with faded flowers are worthier of our admiration."

Yoshida Kenkō
